On April 19, 2026, Ghana Tour Showcase was held at the Institute of Science Tokyo, Yushima Campus. The event aimed to present the outcomes of the Ghana Study Tour conducted in February 2026 and to share Ghanaian culture.

The event opened with remarks by Mr. Li, secretary to Diet Member Mr. Manabu Sakai, and we had distinguished guests from the Embassy of Ghana to Japan, Deputy Ambassador Mr. Francis Thalamus DOE and Mr. Christopher E.K. Gaba.

Our learnings from the Ghana Study Tour were shared through poster presentation and oral presentation.Poster presentations were delivered on three themes: “Healthcare System in Ghana,” “Vaccine Challenges,” and “Health Education Project.” The sessions encouraged active engagement, with many questions and discussions from participants.

The discussion session started with Hirata’s presentation on his thoughts on the cold chain for vaccinations in Ghana, and potential collaboration between Ghana and Japan. In the morning session, Mr. Yuta Ohashi from the Toyota Tsusho Corporation discussed logistics and technology adoption in last-mile settings, as well as collaboration between private companies and student organizations. In the afternoon session, Professor Tomoko Ishino from the Institute of Science Tokyo shared her experiences in collaboration research with Ghanaian partners, and the difficulties in combating malaria, as well as her perspectives on malaria vaccinations.

Ghana Students’ Union organized cultural exhibits showcasing Ghanaian food, clothing and traditions. We heard comments from guests that the event deepened their understanding of Ghana. During the lunchtime dance session, all guests and staff members danced Ghanaian dance together such as “kakalika” and “azonto”, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The event was also honored by the presence of the Ghanaian ambassador.

We plan to continue sharing the insights gained from the Ghana Study Tour through advocacy, research, and events. We are currently compiling the findings from the trip into a report, which will be released soon.

Once again, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has provided support and cooperation for this project.
